| About Me | After high school I moved to Maryville, Missouri (NWMSU), and in 1992 got a BS in Psychology/Sociology. I then moved to Marshalltown, IA, and got a job working with men and women who were diagnosed with MR. In 1994, I moved to Des Moines and took a similar job for another year and then got into the field of chemical dependency. I spent ten years working with women who are addicted to alcohol and drugs. In 2005 I quit my job to get a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa (Des Moines center). I completed my Advanced Practicum at The AIDS Project of Central Iowa and graduated in May of 2009. In March of '09 I passed my licensing exam (LMSW). In January of '13 I passed my second, and final, licensing exam (LISW). After working for Children & Families of Iowa as a family therapist for 3 1/2 years, I went into private practice.
