DeAngelo Mack

Class of 2005

DeAngelo Mack is the son of Milton and Eva Mack. His brother Milton Jr. of West Columbia, SC. He is the Grandson of Mr. & Ms. Eddie Lee Jeffcoat.

Education Accomplishments:

DeAngelo attended Airport High School graduated in 2005. His academics accomplishments: Advance/Honor Rolls Awards, Palmetto Boys State, National Honor Society Club, Certificate of Recognition from State of South Carolina House of Representative, Letter from United States Senate, Young & Gifted Award, The 2004 Eagle Award, Life Time Scholarship, USC Baseball Scholarship and many Strength & Conditioning Awards in Weight Lifting.



College Education Accomplishments:

DeAngelo attended University of South Carolina graduated in 2009. He received Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance & Marketing. DeAngelo received SEC Academic/Dean List honors; The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, The Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll Awards, International Fraternity of Delta Sigma PI and The USC Office of Multicultural Student Affairs Award



DeAngelo played around with the baseball and bat at the age of two. He started playing at Midland Dixie Youth at the age of 4 years old. He played four seasons at Airport High School class 4A. He is an outfielder and pitcher at times for Airport. His junior year he was selected 2004 Player of the Month (Batting Average .486; Three homeruns, 12 doubles, 15 RBIs and 18 Walks. His senior year he received The State’s Class 3A Player of the Year with batting average of .520. He was also named to SC Select All-Region and All-State selection in 2005. He was among the state’s top college prospects. He attended a number of college camps just to name a few USC, Florida State and UGA Georgia. He played year round baseball for many program s such as American Legion, AAU Baseball for East Cobb Leagues in Atlanta, Strikers of Atlanta, Diamond Traveler. He was selected to represent in Team One National Showcase, on the Team One South Top 30 list in Las Vegas.



Even though DeAngelo got a baseball scholarship, but did not start as a starter until 2009. Before this time he was pull in and out of games. In 2006 he played with the Columbia Blowfish of Coastal Plain League. In 2008 he was named to 2008 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team. He played summer season for Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League in Boston. He game in second place in the Home Run Derby, finished with a .273 batting average, games played (42-of-154) 20 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple, home run, eight stolen bases and 19 RBIs.

In 2009 he was the starting outfielder and captain of the team who lead the team in batting average .374, 14 home runs, 20+ walks. DeAngelo won the Tom Price MVP SC Player of the Clemson and Carolina series. He was named to the Southeastern Conference All-SEC Second Team. He also lead the SEC in hits

On June 10, 2009 DeAngelo was drafted by the New York Yankees 13th pick. He started the short season in New York with the Staten Island Yanks. DeAngelo was their starting outfielder and with a batting average of .306 which team won the Staten Island Championship.

On February, 2010 DeAngelo reported to spring training in Tampa and he is now playing single-A in Charleston, SC. DeAngelo has several rookie baseball cards on EBay

Current: On DeAngelo winter break from the Yankee League. He has return to Airport High School to speak with the baseball team concerning education/baseball. Also visited with the Midland and Lexington Leagues speak with the students. He has been coaching AAU Teams in the Big Leaguer Organization. As head coach he has won quite a few games. He also gives private lessons to student at the Carolina Field House.
