| About Me | After leaving ACHS I went into the Army for 6 years 1976 - 1982, 3 years active duty 1976-1979, and 3 years reserve 1979 to 1982 I married my lovely wife Ruth in 1977 she attended North High School in Denver. We have 6 kids (5 boys and 1 girl) the girl being the second from the youngest. January 1, 2000 we became proud grandparents. We currently have 10 grandsons and 8 granddaughters. 2 Grandsons and 2 granddaughters in Washington State, Three grandsons and 3 granddaughters currently live in Texas, and one grandson in Aurora, we had one grandson that passed away was in New Mexico, three granddaughters and three grandsons in Kansas, My daughters first husband was killed in a traffic accident October 10, 2009 they were preparing to move to England. In 1980 I became a member of the South Adams County Fire Department. I worked several different Jobs including driving a truck over the road. In 1993 I was Hired full time by the South Adams County Fire District as the purchasing Agent and Small maintenance. In 1998 a position came available with the fire prevention bureau and I applied for the position and was hired. My titles were Fire Inspector/Investigator, Deputy Fire Marshal, Fire Marshal, and Division Chief. I continued my education related to my occupation, receiving my AAS from Red Rocks Community College, I have also attended Oklahoma State University, and Texas A&M. In August of 2001 I decided to run for ACSD#14 Board of Education. I was successfull in the November election and was seated November 8, 2001 at a special meeting. I held positions as Vice President and President of the school board. My term expired November 2005. Today I am retired from the Fire District but traveling quite a bit visiting my children and grand children, My retirement started March 1, 2021 after 40 years and 7 months with the Fire Department. I have relocated to a town in Texas about 30 miles north of the Dallas Ft Worth area. We also have a home in southwest Kansas that we will split our time between Texas and Kansas once health things are cleared up. Shortly after moving to Texas I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. After 2 surgeries removing 3 tumors (2nd surgery 10-27-2021) I was advised they were able to remove all cancer so no chemo or radiation would be required.
