About Me	www.sugaseanriley.com Born first generation Trinidadian American, in Brooklyn NY in 1978. Both my mother and grandmother raised my younger brother Robert and I. I found my love for making people laugh from my grandmother. People knew and respected her, she taught me how to keep a crowd entertained and how to avoid conflict by making people laugh. There is always material in Brooklyn especially when you grow up a chubby lil boy with big bifocal glasses, wearing a boy scout uniform. I had no choice but to be funny, making fun of myself is how I made others feel comfortable around me, one of the tools that grandma taught me. I was also influenced by my mother who sang at church, weddings, and any event she was given a microphone. She showed me stage presence and the confidence of standing in front of people. Something I could not get from any classroom. After my scholastic career I moved back to New York City and gained a position on Wall Street becoming a stock trader, which is, were I learned my strong sense of business. While it helped me financially, I was still in love with comedy and I practiced my bits on anyone who listened. Considering this was a tough audience because money made these guys laugh it made me work harder to crack a smile on their faces. After a few years in Wall Street, I decide to quit my day job and go for the gusto and do my comedy act full time. Although it was a rough road with my wife, sheryl and three wonderful children, the support they gave made me better and better everyday. I did stand up and open mics at any opportunity I got.
