A member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval Academy. She lived in Center City. Miss Wicker, a graduate of the University of Michigan who earner her master's degree and doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania, was an associate professor of English at Annapolis. She had recently completed work on The Writers Roles, a book that she had written with Elizabeth Penfield. She was active in the Modern Language Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Sierra Club. She was a member of the Rhodes Scholarship Committee.
