Retired Master Chief Petty Officer. (MMCM SW/MTS) I did two tours of Vietnam, one tour Gulf war to liberate Kuwait. Served on aircraft carriers, destroyer escort, supply ship, submarine tender,and a ammunition ship.

Master Sergeant Jack C. Harlan Jr. is from Abingdon, Illinois. He entered the Illinois Army National Guard in August of 1993 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and AIT at Fort Bliss, Texas; he was awarded MOS 16S-Manpads Crew Member. MSG Harlan joined the active Army in July of 1997 and attended AIT at Fort Huachuca, Arizona; he was awarded MOS 96R-Ground Surveillance Operator. MSG Harlan’s past assignments include Team Leader B/313th Military Intelligence Battalion (ABN), 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Executive Administrative Assistant to the 82nd Airborne Division Command Sergeant Major, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Squad Leader C/102d Military Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea; Platoon Sergeant C/102d Military Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea; Drill Sergeant, 1st Armor Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Senior Drill Sergeant, 1st Armor Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Senior Enlisted Intelligence Advisor, 0210 Military Transition Team, Iraq; G2 NCOIC, Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. Most recently he served as the G2 Sergeant Major for the Army Sustainment Command at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. He served tours with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; the 102d Military Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division Korea; 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Iraq; 1st Armor Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky; and 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Iraq; Army Sustainment Command G2, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. His current assignment is the Command Sergeant Major of Task Force ODIN- Afghanistan at Fort Hood, Texas. MSG Harlan’s awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device, Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), the Combat Action Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Badge. MSG Harlan is a Graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, the Jumpmaster Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Emergency Medical Technician Basic Program, Military Transition Team Training, Advanced Military Transition Team Training, Combatives Level one and two, and the Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers Course. He is currently working on an Associate of Science Degree from Cochise College. MSG Harlan is married to the former Frances L. Hitz of Avon, Illinois. They have two children: Noah Chase and Colton Nathanial, and dogs Bruce and Mollie. His family currently resides in Knoxville, Illinois.
