Favorite School Memory	As editor of the 69 Flashlight, I knew that tradition was everything at Abilene High. Two years earlier, the editor of the 67 Flashlight was badly criticized by fellow students (in a fun way) for breaking with tradition and designing a yearbook with a GREEN cover (rather than some combination of black and gold). Throughout our senior year, I was careful to keep the cover design of the 69 Flashlight a secret, but as a joke, I allowed a "fib" to leak that the yearbook would be orange and white. Fellow yearbook staff members were horrified. Our sports editor, Michael Huslage, wrote an epitaph for my tombstone (that he was certain I would soon need): "Here lies Jan. She wasn't very old. Her only mistake: It wasn't black and gold." He and others were pleasantly surprised, and relieved, on the day of the unveiling to find that the 69 Flashlight had a gold cover with black letters. About Me	I graduated from Angelo State University in 1973, 1989, and 1991 with degrees in Nursing and English. I then earned my PhD from UNT in 1996 and MSN from University of Phoenix in 2005. I have two wonderful children and three grandsons that give me a great amount of joy. I've worked at Parkland Hospital for the past 5+ years.
