What is Jaye Chapman known for?

Jaye Lawrence Chapman, born May 22, 1987, in Panama City, Florida, is an American former professional baseball pitcher. After his graduation from A. Crawford Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida, he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 16th round of the 2005 MLB Draft. The Braves even added him to the 40-man roster after the 2011 season to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

In July 2012, Chapman was traded to the Chicago Cubs along with Arodys Vizcaíno for Reed Johnson and Paul Maholm. He made his major league debut on September 4, 2012, against the Washington Nationals and had his last appearance for the Chicago Cubs on October 3, 2012. His stats for the Major League Baseball season of 2012 include a win-loss record of 0–1, an earned run average of 3.75, and 12 strikeouts.

Chapman's career continued with several teams including the Bridgeport Bluefish, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays, and Texas Rangers. During the 2014 season with the Bridgeport Bluefish, he pitched to a 2–3 record with a 3.86 ERA in 50 games. In November 2014, he signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers and was invited to their spring training for the 2016 season. He was later traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on July 10, 2016, however, he was eventually released by the Texas Rangers on July 13, 2017.
