What is David Herndon known for?

David Herndon, born Kenneth David Herndon on September 4, 1985, is a former professional baseball player hailing from Panama City, Florida. He is an alumnus of A. Crawford Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida. Known for his career as a relief pitcher, Herndon made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut on April 5, 2010, for the Philadelphia Phillies, with his last MLB appearance on April 29, 2012, also for the Phillies. His MLB statistics include a win-loss record of 2-8, an earned run average of 3.85, and 76 strikeouts.

Over his career, Herndon played for multiple teams across different leagues. Born and raised in Panama City, Herndon was first drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 38th round of the 2004 amateur draft straight out of Mosley High School but didn't sign. He was also drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 23rd round from the Gulf Coast Community College the following year but opted against signing. In 2006, Herndon finally signed with the Anaheim Angels after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2006 amateur draft.

Herndon began his professional career in 2006, playing for teams like the Orem Owlz, Cedar Rapids Kernels, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, and the Arkansas Travelers. He was selected by the Phillies in the 2009 Rule 5 Draft, and served them from 2010 to 2012. After his stint with the Phillies, he signed contracts with the New York Yankees (2013-2014), Milwaukee Brewers, and the Sioux City Explorers.

In 2011, aside from being with the Phillies, he also had a successful brief stint with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, recording a 2-0 win-loss record with a 2.45 ERA and 1 save in 8 games. However, his promising career faced a pause on June 19, 2012, when Herndon underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his 2012 season.

Despite the challenges, David Herndon remains a notable figure in the world of professional baseball and a proud alumnus of A. Crawford Mosley High School.
