| About Me | Anybody who knows me knows why the chickens cross the road... to distract me! (they're kinda like the squirrel is for the dog in D-Pixar's "Up") :D I'm a former Adult Family Home Provider of seven years (so I cared for four ladies in my home with my mom as my assistant manager), a wife and mother of two amazing, gorgeous and wonderful children. We were lucky enough to be blessed with both a boy and a girl, who keep us young and make us grey all at once. We wouldn't recognize life without them, and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world! We recently adopted an 18 yo rescue Appaloosa named Gypsy - so 30 years after I told my mom I'd have to move away and never see my family again since they couldn't give me a horse, I finally have one! :) I'm a swimmer from way back who feels most at home on the bottom of the ocean with an air tank strapped to my back--or even just a mask and snorkel will do if it's ~50 ft. I love getting fabulous sunsets on film, along with misty beaches or cool light effects through the trees. I might love sunrises as much as sunsets if I saw a few more of them! I'm lucky enough to live on beautiful San Juan Island and love to gripe about the ferry prices, but between the fabulous friends it's so easy to make here and the fact that I don't regularly need to lock my car or house, I wouldn't easily trade it for anything! I met my husband after I came back to the island following East/West XXV to help with an Orca Whale Theodolite study. He was the stage manager for the production when we met in the S.J. Community Theatre while I was performing the role of "Lucy" in "Dracula". The fact that I found a straight, sober, non smoking, intellectual, creative guy on this gorgeous rock I live on--lightning might as well have struck, considering how tough a feat that seems to accomplish around here!! :P My second favorite quote kinda sums things up, people in general, and it's in sympathy for my husband who gets to deal with people who really would say that on a daily basis working for the Sheriff's Dept. The first quote in my favorite quotes just sums me up! LOL I still have my first car--a 1980 Mustang that my dad and I rebuilt 12 years ago. It was my 17th birthday gift and I'm looking forward to doing more work on it soon. I also miss riding my Virago motorcycle, I have left it in storage at my Dad's for the last couple of seasons. Next year!! One of these days I'll get the 16 book ideas roaming around my head out and onto paper, and maybe get published again! While I have quite a bit of extra weight to loose, I keep active and have been tracking down the missing pieces to my personal weight puzzle rather than jumping back on the diet roller coaster that contributed to me getting to this size to begin with! I'm down some already, so wish me luck! My latest passion/addiction is writing FanFiction based on the "Twilight" series on Twilighted.net and FanFiction.net. It's a very needed creative outlet and honestly, those Ladies (most of whom are also moms) just flat ROCK! The support and interaction and creativity is amazing...(read more) |
