Joined the Army in 1979 as a PFC and started in MI as 96H, aerial surveillance. Went to OCS, got my commission as a 2nd Lt., and honorably discharged in 1983 as a 1st Lt. Earned Airborne wings and Ranger tab, served in an 8" nuclear artillery battery and as PIO at Ft. Rucker. Went into the reserves in 1986 for six years and honorably discharged as a Capt.

Charles Bies

Commissioned as an Armor officer. Served as a tank platoon leader with the 1st Armored Division and an Airborne Reconnaissance Company Commander in the 82nd Airborne Division. Currently serving at the United States Military Academy as an Instructor of Military History. Deployed to Iraq from 2006-2007 and 2008-2009. Awards include Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star Medal with Valor device and two oak leaf clusters, and the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster

After completion of MOS training went home for Christmas break and on 7 Jan 02 arrived at first duty station, Camp Hovey South Korea. Stayed at Bravo 5/5 ADA from 02 - 05 and than ETS'd into 4th ROC (Army Reserve) stationed at Dae-gu South Korea. From 05 - 09 (June) stayed in 4th ROC. July of 2009 PCS'd to 2ID ROC at Camp Casey, South Korea and am still in this unit till unknown date. Currently rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6).
