Eight years as an aircraft mechanic; B-52's and KC-135's Grand Forks AFB, ND (1969-1971); KC-135's Travis AFB, CA (1971); U-2R model Davis Monthan AFB, AZ & UTapao Thailand (1972-1973); SR-71 Beale AFB, CA and various other over seas locations(1973-1975); T-38's Air Force Thunderbirds Nellis AFB, NV (1975-1976).
I loved every minute of my tour of duty. What an awesome experience and great time to be in aviation!

Served from 1989 to 1999. I was an Interior Electrician / Exterior Electrician / Alarms Technician. Stationed at Hill AFB, Utah, Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Misawa Air Base, Japan, and Kelly Air Force Base, Texas.

Enlisted in October 1964. Graduated from Aviation Electronics School and assigned to Anti-Submarine Patrol Squadron 49 (VP-49) as an Electronics Tech and crew member (P-3 Aircraft). Deployments to Rota Spain, Bermuda and Viet Nam (1968). 1969: As an E5(Petty Officer Second Class) picked up for a commissioning program NESEP (Naval Enlisted Scientific Education Program). Graduated from the University of Nebraska(BS in Mechanical Eng) and commissioned as an Ensign in 1973. Attended flight school as a Navigator and assigned to VP10. Deployments to the Mediterranean. Attended Naval Post Graduated School in Monterey CA. & awarded MS in Aero Engineering in 1979. Rest of my career was centered around Space Systems Engineering and Acquisition Management. Retired in Nov 1985 at the Rank of Lieutenant Commander.

26 plus years. Retired as Captain. Nuclear Surface specialty. Commanded three ships for a total of seven years. Was commissioning Chief Engineer of USS Nimitz, the first of the modern day two reactor aircraft carriers.

I served in Great Lakes, IL; Naples Italy as the Flag Writer (the Admiral's personal secretary (cush job));Served in Subic Bay, PI; of course numerous bases on the west coast plus 2 weeks of sea duty aboard the Navy's 'Love Boat' (they started calling it that after so many girls got pregnant - one of the first co-ed ships)
