30 year Army officer, retired June 2000 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Enlisted as a private in 1970, Officer Candidate School in 1972, commissioned an Infantry officer, helicopter Flight School in 1978.

Entered the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served on Active and Reserve assignments until April 1983. Remained on the "retired" list until 1991, when he enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard, serving ten more years in both active and reserve assignments. Achieved the rank of E-7 (Chief Petty Officer & Sergeant First Class.
