Joined in 1991, graduated and shipped to boot camp in 1992. Currently on Active Duty stationed in Quantico VA. I graduated from school as a Water Purification Specialist. In the past year I gruduated from the Naval Post Grauduate School, and am currentlly a DoD Program Manager (Defense Acquisition Manager). I have served in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mark W. Fishback is currently serving as a Senior National Security Analysis for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Mclean, Va.

Mark’s civilian education includes undergraduate degrees in Psychology and U.S. History from the University of North Carolina; he holds advance degrees in Management, Public Administration, and Military Science, and is a Bio-Defense PhD Candidate at George Mason University (GMU), Mclean, Va,

Mark enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1979. On 23 October, 1983, he sustained combat wounds while assigned to the Multinational Peace Keeping Forces, Beirut, Lebanon. From 1984 to 1988, he was an instructor at the United States Army Chemical School, Ft. McClellan, AL., instructing all levels of Nuclear Defense; Chemical and Nuclear Target Analysis, and Radiation Safety. From 1988 to 1990, Mr. Fishback led a small team of American advisors in the Philippines; conducting several contingency operations while providing combat training to Filipino Marines and Rangers. In 1990, he was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, and was assigned as a Combat Skills Instructor and Chemical Defense Officer, Task Force Papa Bear, 1st Marine Division. While destroying Iraqi armor in close proximity to US forces – he was wounded for a second time. In July 1996, Mr. Fishback assisted in the development of the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF), where he served as the Chemical Reconnaissance Task Force Commander and Principle Research Scientist. As Task Force Commander, he participated in several national level operations and Operation Desert Fox in response to Iraqi non-compliance. During October 2001, as a result of terrorist attacks on the United States, he was selected to assist in the development of the Marine Expeditionary-Anti-Terrorism Brigade, Camp Lejuene, North Carolina. As Director of Chemical Operations, he was the executive coordinator for the Marine Corps during the search for, and subsequent destruction of anthrax spores in the Capital Region. From 2001-2004 (i.e. Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom), Mark was assigned as the Chemical Operations Officer for USCENTCOM, where he was responsible for planning the WMD campaign for U.S. and Coalition Partners (i.e. inclusive of Counterproliferation and Foreign Consequent Management activities). Mark retired from military service as an Chief Warrant Officer Four on 1 September, 2004. As a Senior Civil Servant, Mark served as the Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction, Counter- proliferation Lead, Counterproliferation Division, Plans and Policy Directorate from 2004 to 2006, for the 27 nations within United States Central Command’s (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR).

His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (Combat “V” denoting valor), Purple Heart (Gold Star), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 Gold Stars), Joint Service Commendation (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Navy Commendation (Combat “V” denoting valor, 2 Gold Stars), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Oak Leaf Cluster) and numerous other awards and decorations.

He is married to the lovely former Ms. Cheryl Blood of Hayward, California and has two beautiful daughters (Brandi [22] and Brooke [21]).

Biography Update: Colonel Mark W.Fishback
Mr. Mark Fishback is currently serving as Deputy, Plans and Operations, United States Army Nuclear and Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction Agency (USANCA), G3/5/7, Springfield, Virginia. From May 2006 to January 2008, he served as Senior Strategic Planner, International Programs, Office of the Special Assistant, Chemical and Biological Defense and Chemical Demilitarization Programs, US Department of Defense, Arlington, Va. Prior to the aforementioned assignment, he assumed the duties as the Counterproliferation Lead, Counterproliferation Division, Plans and Policy Directorate from 2004 to 2006 for the 27 nations within United States Central Command’s (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR).

Mr. Fishback’s civilian education includes undergraduate degrees in both Psychology and U.S. History from the University of North Carolina; he holds advanced degrees in Military Studies and Science, Management, and Public Administration. He is currently a Management in Organizational Leadership Doctoral Candidate at the University of Phoenix.

Persian Gulf era veteran on a team of advanced electronics trained technicians responsible for on-board submarine sonar computer maintenance and repair.Awarded Expeditionary medals for ICEX in '92-'93. Permanent duty station at Pearl Harbor, HI. Other awards included from Unitas include Blue Nose, Shell Back, Twin Dragons.and megellan for sailing the seven seas.
