Shortly after graduating I traveled with my parents Bernard and Elfrieda Schulte by plane to New York. Their plane ticket was round trip--mine was not. My new home for the next four years was the U S Military Academy having successfully earned the nomination by Robert M. Dole. Though I did get back to Kansas and other parts of the world over the next four years, the next time I saw my parents in New York was when I graduated in June 1973. My sister, her husband, and my nephew and nieces all traveled to New York as well as I began my new career as a second lieutenant in the U S Army. Little did I know then that I would retire from the U S Army in 1993 as a major. Also little did I know I would see the world as part my assignments and related travels-Korea, Germany, Australia, Philippines, Hawai'i, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, AChina, Guatemala, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and mainland stateside locations in Kentucky, Alabama, Colorado, Virginia, and more. After my military retirement I worked in the Middle East--Kuwait and Saudi Arabia--and in Bosnia - Herzogovina for five years and traveled to see other countries from there.

Our Spearville High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Spearville High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
