Dodged the Army by joining the USAF in January 1967. Basic at Lackland AFB , Tx; technical school at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Il. Trained as a Production Analyst, my first assignment was at Duluth, MN; at a BOMARC missile site 25 miles North of town. Met my wife there in Duluth. From there: Vietnam (3rd Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Group); Holloman AFB, MN (49 Tactical Fighter Wing); Takhli AB, Thailand (49th Tactical Fighter Wing); Wheeler AFB, HI (22nd Tactical Air Support Squadron); Ellsworth AFB, SD (44th Strategic Missile Wing); March AFB, CA (15th Air Force); Mildenhall RAFB, England (3rd Air Force); back to March AFB, CA (15th Air Force.) Retired after 20+ years as a Chief Master Sergeant (E9) in 1987.
