I served my entire Army career at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. I did immunology research on ways to improve vaccine efficacy. I was the pathologist for the medical clinic and I oversaw the ethics of research involving human subjects. When I retired I had served for 39 years 8 months and 3 days.

In 1970, my senior year in medical school, I signed up for the Berry Plan and received a commission in the US Army. I served in the inactive reserves while being trained in pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Upon completion in 1974 I entered active duty as a Captain in the Medical Corps and served for 6 years at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick. I left the Army to become an assistant professor of pathology and biology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. In 1983 I decided to return to USAMRIID and have been there until 2016 when I retired.

Joined the September 21, 1977 in Staten Island, NY went to Boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes IL. And served on active duty until Dec 10, 1998 21 Years I had a lot of good times and a lot of time a way from home. After Boot training went across the road to RTTC for Basic Electricity & Electronics Training then down in Feb 78 sent to Pensacola Fl. for Electronics Warfare Training until I server aboard USS Coronado (LPD/AGF-11), USS Shreveport(LPD- 12,SIMA GTMO Cuba, USS Biddle (CG-34), FCTC Dam Neck Va., Fleet Information Warfare Center, Commander Carrier Group Six aboard USS America (CV-66), Amphibious Squadron Eight Onboard USS KEARSARGE (LHA-3. Hot spot of the world where I've served time: Bosnia, Beirut, Somalia, and Persian Gulf (2) I would like to hear from some of my shipmates.
