DORAN ROY EDWARDS
Class of 1964
Army, 3 Years

I entered the service, the US Army 11 April 65 and my time spent was for three years until,01 April 68.

I took Basic training at Ft.Ord, California and came in second in my Company to score high enough to qualify for the Expert badge and bar award and my photo was put in the Mercury Newspaper.

After,Basic Training, I attended A.I.T. at Ft. Ord, for Mechanic School for Trucks and Jeeps. After eight weeks of that I got Orders to Attend FT. Benning, GA on the East coast for Vehicle and Track School. I did another eight weeks their, learning to drive Armored Personel Carriers and also Tanks and Tank Retreviers(which are alittle bigger then Tanks).

After that Training was over, I was sent to Germany to a place call Munich, Germany. The Barracks was Warner Karsern where I spent alot of time working on jeeps and 3/4 ton, Duce an half"s up to 5 ton trucks. The only thing I didn't work on was track vehicles, because the ground wouldn't support over 5 tons of weight or more.

Then in Feb. of 67. I got tired of Germany and put in for a 1049, to go to South East Asia, VIETNAM and I got my orders to go and left on leave for a month and then, to Oakland,Army Depot where I was flown to Hawaii, then to Clark Air Force Base The, Philipene Islands, then on to Vietnam. That I can't talk about.

There I was, attached to the 4th Ifnantry Div, but was in A Co 1st Bn 69th Armor Division until my departure to Ft. Lewis, Washington on 08 Apr 68 at the rank of Sp/5 E-5 (Sergant).

Then I came home, to no big welcome or anything like that just a job at the Railroad and then an Unfinished Furniture Factory, next door to the Cannery, which was Stokley Van Camps then, but is now Pacific Coast Producers, where I worked up until my retirement in June of 98.

Now I'm just retired and living with my second wife Paula here in Oroville. End of Story.
