Boot Camp: Orlando, Florida; Stationed: USS Barnstable County (LST-1197), Port: Little Creek, Virginia. 2-North Atlantic Cruises, 2-Mediterranean Cruises; Caribbean Cruises; Sailor of the Month on several occasions; Navy Achievement Medal for superior achievement; Navy Good Conduct Medal; Honorable Discharge.

Auditioned for the band program in the USAF and spent 4 years at Maxwell AFB Alabama then auditioned for the band at the USAF Academy near Colorado Springs. Spent 18 years in the band retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant, (E-8) in 1983.

Joined up march 1943 - boot camp at Camp Farragut Idaho - radio school university of Idaho, Moscow Idaho. navy signal school - Chavez Ravine Los Angeles - Navy gunnery school - Pacific Beach San Diego. posted to armed guard Center Treasure Island San Francisco - Ships - MS Tawali - SS Jean Lykes - SS James Rolph. experienced Japanese Kamakaze attacks in Invasion of Philipines at Luzon. transferred to regular Navy and attached to Light Cruiser USS Duluth (CL87) 7th Fleet. took part in Philipine Independence Day 1946. then into Navy Reserve. Called back to duty 1950 Korea. refresher courses at Treasure Island and Bainbridge Island Washington then to Adak Aleutian Islands one year. then to Skaggs Island California then Discharged as Communications Technician 2/c A great experience to go through ONCE.
