Navy, 18 Years

Maritime Patrol Navy Flight Officer. Flew ASW and Anti-Ship missions in the P3C-UIII A/C with VP-24 and numerous USNR squadrons and in the CP-140 A/C with the RCAF. Deployed to Diego Garcia during the Iranian Hostage Crisis.
Wrote the first Canadian Maritime Air Group General Defense Plan. Conducted sovereignty patrols above the Artic Circle with the RCAF. Served onboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65) as Asst. Strike Operations Officer from 1986-1988 and was on board when Enterprise became the first nuclear carrier to transit the Suez Canal. Transitioned to the Navy Reserve in 1988 and became a Nav/Comm and TACCO instructor in the P3C-UIII. Flew numerous missions during the Cuban Boat Lift. During my career I have deployed to or visited every continent except Antarctica and South America. Retired in 1995 with the rank of Commander.

Served as a military police officer assigned to "C" Battery 1/19th FA at Fort Sill,OK then was reassigned to 18th MP Brigade Airborne at Fort Bragg,NC later assigned to 1st Battalion/1st Brigade MP at Camp Mabry, TX.Attended numerous schools and trainings including Airborne and Air Assault.

June 69 -Mar 73 on the USS Kitty Hawk CVA 63 as Electricans Mate 2nd Class. Two tours in Vietnam. It was hard work would not trade the memories good and bad for all the tea in China.

5th FIS, F-106 Weapons Control at Minto, ND, Phan Rang, Nam, back to the states at McChord AFB, 318th FIS, then Instructor for 5 Level class on our System. That was the first 15 years. The last 5 were at Edwards AFB, CA. Tell you shoot you type job. Enjoyed ALL 20 years.

Basic in SC, AIT in Indianapolis, then sent to Ft. Hood (2nd Armored Division - Patton's own). This was Vietnam era. I was a computer operator and data librarian (when computers were still very big). I got a sharpshooter medal for the M-16 (this was the first year, 1973, that rifle training was offered to women but still optional and only one weekend before our record fire).
