Roy Evans retired from 22 years of military service as a Major. He entered military service in 1975 after graduating from Wilkes College. While in the military he received a Masters Degree from the University of Scranton and a 2nd Masters from the University of Southern California. He received a direct commission from the president of the United States in 1983 while stationed in South Korea. He retired in 1997 as a Major with almost 22 years of active service. He earned 14 medals while serving on active duty including the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (2); Army Commendation Medal (7); Army Achievement Medal (3) and others. After military service he was hired as a Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) High School Teacher at Long Island City High School in Queens, New York City where he taught for 13 years. He retired from teaching and is now working for Social Security in Wilkes-Barre and lives on Lehman-Outlet Road with his wife Donna and their 2 children, Samuel (16) and Sarah (15). Roy was a 1968 graduate of Lake Lehman High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. He also played
high school baseball for the Black Knights and was a member of the drafting club. In his community, he was a member of the Harvey's Lake Rebels Softball Team and the Outlet Free Methodist Church.

Our Lake-lehman High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Lake-lehman High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
