Class of 1994
Army, 15 Years

After moving away I joined the Army in April 1995 as a member of the Infantry. I have been stationed at Ft. Hood Texas, Baumholder, Germany; Ft. Irwin, California; Camp Humphrey s, Korea; and Ft. Carson, Colorado. I have been serving for 15 years and plan on retiring in 5 or more years. I have been deployed to Bosnia / Kosovo in 2000; Iraq in 2005 OIF III; and currently I am deployed in Afghanistan 2010. During my deployment in Iraq, I was injured by an IED. Shrapnel shattered my left femur and ripped a quarter of my muscles in my left thigh. Due to my injuries I fought to stay in and re-classed into another MOS or Job. I am now a Transportation Management Coordinator, I track all personnel, equipment, commodities, and convoys in our area of operations. I manage everything that moves by Land (Road), Air, Rail, or Sea.
I was a student there at Kalama from Kindergarten to my Junior year. I did not graduate there due to my family moving away. I would have graduated in 1994. My family still have roots there. In fact my cousin Melissa works there as a Teacher and Athletic Coach. I remember giving her class a briefing on the military and my deployment to Iraq, while I was home on leave in 2007.

I joined the Army in April 1995. I have served for 15 years. I served my first 12 years in the Infantry ,and have been stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas; Baumholder, Germany; Ft. Irwin, California; Camp Humphrey / Osan, Korea; and Ft. Carson, Colorado. I have deployed to Bosnia / Kosovo in 2000; Iraq OIF III in 2005; and I am currently deployed in Afghanistan 2010.
While I was in Iraq I was injured by an IED. The shrapnel shattered my left femur and damaged a quarter of my muscle in my left thigh. I rehabilitated myself in less than a year and fought to stay in. I left the Infantry and became a Transportation Management Coordinator. Basically, I track and report on anything that moves, via Air; Ground (Road / Rail); and Sea. I manage all personnel; vehicles; equipment and commodities in our area of operations.
