Vietnam veteran. Served in-country 1965~1971 (except 1969.went to Germany). Started in 1st Inf Div, then 1st Av Bde, Americal Div, finally again with 1st Av. Stayed to keep kid brothers from facing the stupid. When I went to Germany, both Larry and Joe went. Both were severely wounded.

Viet Nam era veteran from 1970-72. Trained as a Medical Corpsman and Operating Room Specialist. Served with the 7th Evacuation Hospital,(7th Medical Brigade USA Europe), in Darmstadt, Germany in a MUST (Mobile Unit Surgical Transport) unit and in Frankfort, Germany at the US Army General Hospital. At age 36, enlisted in the Iowa National Guard in Iowa City, Headquarters, 109th Medical Battalion, and served four years, 1983-87, as an assistant operations sergeant. Awarded the Iowa National Guard Commendation Medal for meritorius achievement, Army Service Ribbon, and Professional Leadership Ribbon.

Served as: Enlisted; Warrant Officer; & Commisioned Bands Officer (Supervised 18 bands); Commandant, U.S. Army School of Music (two tours); Chief, Army Bands (Pentagon, two tours, 300 Bands); College Band Director (West Point Military Academy Band Performed countless ceremonies and concerts, including at Carngie Hall, recordings, etc.) plus non-bands service in Viet Nam. Honor Selectee to attend the prestigious Command and General Staff College. Retired with 30+ years service.
