He patrioticly entered service, during the low point militarily and nationally, just after 'Nam and Watergate. Though it wasn't the popular thing to do, he selflessly thought of his country and showed superlative courage when he signed up. He served with fidelity and exemplary dedication until being granted a Medical Discharge as a result of an unfortunate unforseen accident. Though wishing to make a career of it, he continued to hold the moral high ground by making a stand, as well as a positive and devoted difference for his community.

He served as a professional NCO and Sergeant in the Infantry, and was assigned to the famed 3rd Division in Georgia. He further served the community as a local Police Officer and as an extensive and selfless volunteer on the local Ambulance Squad and local Fire Department.

Some of his units included the 102nd Armored Brigade, the 50th Armored Division, and the famed 42nd Infantry Division. He also served in the conflict in Iraq and rendered a dedicated career of over 30 years of service to our nation.

He entered Active Duty shortly after high school, and served from August of 1981 to May of 1984. He also then served in the Naval Reserves from 1985 to 1988. A member of the crew of the USS Flint, he intrepidly not only served the nation during the height of the Cold War, but also faithfully and bravely served our nation and her allies in the embattled Lebanon Crisis of 1982 and 1983.

He entered service in December of 1968 and was a member of Co B, 3rd Bn 21st Inf, 196th Light Inf Bde of the famed 23rd "Americal Division", stationed near Da Nang in Viet Nam. Earlier, his cousin, Les Wesighan, was among 28 men our County lost in the defense of Viet Nam and the region. Frank was sadly claimed near Phuoc Ha, on August 20th, 1969. But not before he bravely saved the lives of 3 wounded fellow soldiers by dragging them to safety during the firefight. He also earned the Bronze Star Medal with "V" for Valor for his truly selfless, brave and veritably courageous actions.

Enlisting, he served as a Combat Engineer in the 18th Engineer Brigade. Based from Da Lat, and throughout II Corps, he worked alongside the battle hardened 173rd Airborne, and was present during TET, in the homeric defense of Viet Nam, where he earned the Purple Heart for his sacrifices and personal valor.

Serving 2 tours in Iraq, he served our nation as a member of B Battery, of the 1st Battalion 11th Marines, in the famed 1st Marine Division. Serving in the Field Artillery, he provided vital artillery support to our front line units in the hotly contested Anbar province and fought in the epic battle for Fallujah.
