First 5 years as a fleet sailor, firefighter and fire marshal aboard the USS Newport News (Heavy Cruiser). My last 7 years I was stationed at the U.S. Air Force Academy with a group headquartered out of New Orleans, LA.

First 5 years were over seas duty as welder and ship board firefighter. My last 7 years in the Navy I was stationed out of Colorado Springs, CO (tough duty).

SGT Schumaker has been in the Army for almost ten years. He has been deployed to Iraq twice, and spent one tour in Korea. He recieved the Combat Action Badge in May of 2005 for engaging enemy forces in Iraq.

( Did not graduate GED in Navy 1968) Joined Navy, January 17, 1962. Made cruise on USS Enterprise CVA (N) 65 in 1963/64. Made World Cruise with Nuclear Task Force One 64, from there to Attack Squadrons VA 42, 65, 52, and 34. Two cruises to Southeast Asia, Started flying as a Search and Rescue Aircrewman in the Huey Helicopter, then flying in the CH-53, RH-53 Helicopters as an AMCM Crewman. Completed my navy Career as a CWO-3 serving as a Maintenance Material Control Officer and Courier before being retired out June 30, 1983.

I served 3 years ,9 month aboard the USS Hector AR-7 from Feb. 1976 to Oct. 1975. My rate was Hull Tech PO3 and was involved in fleet maintenance and repair to the carrier groups located on the west coast and Pacific rim. I made two wespacs and spent a total of 14 months time in Hawaii, Japan, Phillipine Islands, So. Korea,Taiwan and Tahiti. I'm proud to have served and proud to be counted amongst the other Cowboys who also did their part.
