i just read about reginald flack.i wish i knew who wrote that wonderful tribute to him and all the viet nam vets.my dad was also with the fort lee vfw in fact his name was/is charles viola and was commander for over 25 yrs. in a row.he served in the korean war.so i was brought up with all the vets.especially ww1,ww2and korea.i loved them all a still do love all vets .in fact my grandad was 1 of about 39 charter members of that vfw.do you remember the old big post?but what i really wanted to say to ever wrote the tribute is thanks because i was thinking i was the one who could see that vn vets won the war.i've been saying the same things about macdonalds,etc.people today do not relize there was close to 100 communists country and more coming accept for our cold war containment.well although people won't admit it,itworked.whats there now 5 commie countries?the news and most books still say not only did we lose but still insist we lost tet. if it wasn't so sad a lie it would be funny.you vets not only won every major battle but the war.thanks reggie and all vets 1776 to today and future.in closing i remember reginalds wake but my parents wouldn'd let me go and i also remember making up the care packages and loved to write little notes and put them in the packages.by the way the fort lee cairola/barber vfw purple heart society is named after marine hero reginald flack. k.i.a. viet nam/i believe from mortar shrapnal.may you all rest in peace and the ones who make it have a wonderful life and especialy peace of mind and soul. love and utmost respect to you all. daniel viola

my name is Tony Asaro, better known as anthony Weinberg.i usd my step farthers name in those years, my legal name is tony asaro.Reggie and i were both inducted into the marine corp on march 2nd 1966, in hackensack nj.we went thru booth camp together in parris island n.c. iremember when we finished booth camp and we got our orders to report'' in those days everybody was going to viet nam '' they called that getting West pack orders, Western pacific orders,that ment bye your on your way to Nam'''Well i got my west pack orders and reggie didnt get west pack orders,he lucked out and stayed in the states;; well i said good bye and was shipped out to camp pendelton california for advance training .and then to danang viet nam'' well all the time i was over there,i thought reggie was haveing a good time back in the states'' and here i was first in danang, and then the dmz zone and every where else for 13 months,and i didnt know he was sent to nam months later.to be honest i only found out about his death by accident,in those days we had a newspaper for the military called stars and stripes, and while i was reading a issue in my bunker one night,i saw reggies name in the kia section.I was devastated''' i couldnt believe what i was reading'' i immediately ran off a letter to my parents to tell them if this is true,and i received a letter back weeks later from my mother that she knew about it, but didnt want to trouble me since i was in action over there.i wiil never forget reggie '''' we had some great times in booth camp''' here were two nieve guys that just got inducted to the marine corp'' we were scared to hell''' but went with it anyway and became united states marines''''''''we were proud of that accomplishment, especially me who didnt have a good 4 years of fort lee high school,i was kind of a free sprit in schooll; and the teachers had it in for me''' i deserved it'' but i still became a marine and so did reggie'' the rest of that senior class didnt go through what we did.. so reggie rest in peace my brother Semper fi''
