Class of 1955
Air Force, 4 Years
I passed my practical exams from Air Traffic Control School in Biloxi, Mississippi. And assigned to air bases in South Korea for one year & Tucson, Arizona for 3 years.
My main job was a control tower operator
clearing aircraft for landings & takeoffs. It was a very important responsibility for a 20 year old Airman. I enjoyed every moment giving pilots instructions when they entered our traffic pattern. The Aircraft taxying out for takeoff had to hold their position short of the runway for the priority of landing planes on final approach.... Those were the days!
We worked (6) hour shifts during a (24) hour day. I'll never forget it.
