around the world cruise by ship, Persian Gulf, on a ship named the Vandergrift (FFG 48) home port was Long Beach CA. I was in the electronics behind the weapon systems.

Army, 20+ Years

Served with the Americal Division in Vietnam. Some of the medals I received was the Bronze star and Army commendation medal with V for valor. I also received the Combat Infantry Badge. during Sesert Storm I was serving with the 224th Engineer Bn out of Burlington, Iowa. While in the National Guard I received the Army Achievemnt medal, Hero of Hohenfel, and was Soldier of the Year for our battalion.

Served with Air Defense unit out of Ft. Bragg, NC. His airborne unit was mobilized to Camp Bucca, Iraq. Their mission was to transport and.guard detainess. Since his return from Iraq, he was reclassed to Military Police. Dustin received the Army commendation medal.

I entered the service in '86, the summer after my junior year in high school, as a combat engineer in the Iowa National Guard in Burlington,IA. During this time, we were sent to Germany for 6 months to help with Desert Storm. Then in '96, I enlisted full time as a truck driver. I was stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI and Ft. Irwin, CA. This was only for 5 yrs. I returned to the Iowa National Guard, retiring from a unit in Muscatine, IA with 22 yrs total service as SGT/E-5.

Current Member of the 132nd Fighter Wing Iowa Air National Guard Des Moines, Iowa. The 132nd has F-16 fighting Falcons. Worked as a Aerospace Propulsion Mechanic on Pratt and Whitney 220 and 229 engines and GE 100 and 129 engines. Now have crossed trained to F-16 Phase Inspection Mechanic and I know work on the aircraft. Have been deployed to Texas, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Springfield,IL and Spangdahlem Air Base Germany.
