Had my eyes opened to the ways I had been deceived into believing that my country represented freedom and democracy when in actuality we were denying freedom and opposing democracy in Vietnam while I was stationed with the 9th Infantry Division in the Mekong Delta Feb. 1969 - Feb. 1970. Joined the Vietnam Veterans Against the War after I got my honourable discharge and have been vocally critical of US foreign policy ever since.

Had many world wide assignments as a combat artilleryman. I never thought I would stay for 22 years when I first enlisted. I met many fine and patriotic men. It was a real eye opener deploying to Desert Storm. I have been teaching high school in Minnesota since my retirement from the Army in 1994.
