Served 20 years as a Marine infantryman. Some of the duty stations were: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marine Divisions with the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th Marine Regiments; U. S. Naval Disciplinary Command, Portsmouth, NH; American Embassy, Seoul, Korea. As a competitive rifle shooter, was the Interservice Service Rifle Long Champion and the High Service Rifle in the Wimbledon Cup Match at the National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio winning the George R. Farr Trophy.
