Tribute Concert Honoring the late Geoff Richter, North Band Dircector

The Buffalo-Niagara Concert Band, Amy J. Steiner conducting, will present a tribute concert honoring the late Mr. Geoff Richter on Friday, May 11, 2012, beginning at 7:00pm at Williamsville North H.S. 1595 Hopkins Rd. Mr. Richter was a retired music teacher of Williamsville North, a leader of the popular Frankfurters German Show Band, summer conductor of the Amherst Symphony, principal chair trumpet player in Amherst, Cheektowaga and Clarence orchestras, and a conductor of the Amherst Community Band before it merged with the Niagara Concert Band to form the Buffalo-Niagara Concert Band, where he was co-conductor with current band conductor Amy J. Steiner. The concert will include musical favorites of Mr. Richter, guest musicians and two guest conductors, Mr. John Maguda and Mr. Jim Pace. The Buffalo-Niagara Concert Band has commissioned a new work for band by Los Angeles composer Michael Kibbe, titled “Tribute” for this concert. Admission is free. For more information: www.bncb.org
