I was a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands (1969 - 1971) . While there when the Apollo 11 made their Friendship Tour to Amsterdam I was part of their security . I was promoted to Sgt. by the Ambassador .I've been station stateside at Camp Lejeune,NC and Quanrico, VA.

Stationed at Ft. Sill Oklahoma trained on 105mm self propelled howitzer. Whole unit went to Pleiku Vietnam in 1966 via troop ship USS General Walker. Pleiku was attacked during the Tet offensive. I was wounded and got the purple heart, which I declined. I believe that the purple heart should be received by the families of soldiers who have died in battle. I was lucky to live through the Vietnam war and I am still proud that I served my country. Now living with my wife (married 46 years).
