Class of 1961
Air Force, 4 Years
My service was four of the best years of my life. My father was killed in the service to this wonderful country in 1943 and I was only eight months old at the time and never got to know him. I learned of him throught the Kindred family with whom I had and continue having a loving relationship that is more than aunts and uncles. I feel toward them the brother and sister relationship that I never had.
I grew up knowing that I was going to serve in some capacity even though I was draft exempt as a sole surviving son of an idividual who was killed in the line of duty. I feel it is our birthright to serve and I was compelled to do so. I enjoyed every moment of it.
