About Me What's so funny about Peace, Love and Understanding? a.) Born in Lynwood, CA 03/12/1954. Educated at Sunny Hills High School 1968-1971, graduated from Los Alamitos High School 1972. Moved to San Francisco one week after graduation, lived there 1972-1981 working for Wells Fargo Bank. Moved to Santa Cruz County in 1981, working for the County since 1984. Unmarried. My cousin and her son live with me. I helped raise my cousin's son since he was 10 months old in 1993. Their loving dog and my sweet, affectionate cat make my house a home. I'm family oriented but my own family is in Southern California, Washington, Colorado, Arizona, and Kansas/Missouri, so the families of my friends are very important to me. I love knowing people's mothers and becoming close to them. My friends are very important to me, and I spend a lot of time with them. I'm a staunch Democrat. I'm delighted that Barack Obama is president, now if they'll only give him a chance to be a leader instead of being constantly embattled, we might actually solve some of our problems. b.) Relationships: (You found it! Section 2.8.b,c,d.!) I'm a heart-centered person. My significant relationships have been few, mostly because it's hard for me to trust new people. c.) Don't treat me with disrespect and hurtful remarks, and expect me to fetch and carry for you like a good little troll. While I'd never leave a child to their own devices instead of helping them, their parents are altogether different. I'd rather never see you again than be treated like crap - except for when you need me (i.e. every Friday morning, whether you've been a friend or not). d.) Never betray my trust. Trust is more important than love, harder to earn, and is slower to heal once it has been abused. You mustn't assume that I'll be able to forgive and forget every time. Be consistent in a friendship, relationship or anything in between. Don't change boundaries and rules. They're arbitrary and too restrictive for me. Don't assume that because you change the rules, I'll automatically adapt without getting hurt. Don't trample over my feelings! I'm as loyal and devoted a lover as you'll ever have any time in your life. Don't abuse me. Don't take me for granted. I'll give you the world without insisting on payback, but don't abuse my good nature. My horoscope says I have "a sensitive and lyrical heart", so be careful with me and don't hurt me. I wound easily, and with enough time may heal, but if repeated, I'm slower to regain trust and reluctant to keep rebuilding what was broken away. ~~~~~~ One rainy day in October, 1983, an orange and white kitten who would come to be called Sarah Boinhaadt jumped into a lady's car where I worked at Food and Nutrition Services (now Community Bridges) in Aptos. She was cold and hungry, about two months old, and very sweet. She sat on people's laps all day, until around 3:00 p.m. Madjel brought her into my office, and I said I'd hold her for awhile. At 5:00, she was still on my lap. I asked her if she wanted to come home with me. She meowed "Yes". I asked her if she wanted to be my kitty. She meowed "Yes". Due to the natural acting abilities she possessed, truly a rival to the great dramatic actresses of the silent screen, I named her "Sarah Boinhaadt" (an exaggerated Brooklyn accent is necessary to pronounce it correctly). I adored her. She was16, almost 17, when she died in 2000, the day after Mother's Day. She is buried in my back yard, snuggled comfortably on a new towel, bedecked with rose petals and a thank-you card that I wrote to her for the many years of happiness she gave me. Now I have Maizie-Ann, who looks just like Sarah and is probably 15 years old. She was at PetSmart and Vanessa Hill from West Marine told me about her. Abandoned in an apartment with a black and white cat, they were calling her Punkin because of her orange and white coloring, and the other cat was Patches. Terry and Robin went with me to see the orange and white cat. I knew I wanted someone who looked like Sarah. I just wanted to see her again. We found the cat in a room full of cats, where she was curled up on a cat scratching post. They brought her out to us. Robin noticed that there is a bit of blue in Maizie's gold eyes. She came home with us, and as I lounged on my bed we talked about names. The name "Maizie-Ann" came up, and I called her, and she responded immediately. She sleeps on my head at night and loves to rub her head with mine when "we" put on shoes. She's a delightful sweetheart, loves to sit on my lap or crawl up on my chest when...(read more)
