Army, 20+ Years

Graduated UNCC and was commission into the US Army in May of 1977. Station at Fort Benning Ga. and FT Wainwright Alaska. First son, William was born at Fort Benning. Alaska was the best! Learned to ski, MT climb and live in one cold place. Great fishing and hunting stories. Company Commander for CSC 4/9th Infantry and CSC 327th Airassult Infantry. I had a blast! My second son Andrew was born in Alaska. Returned to teach ROTC at UNCC from 1984-1987. Hard and long hours training College students but very rewarding. Station in Korea for one year, back to FT Benning as Operations Officer, then to 101st Airborne as Recon Planner for the Division and then.............I messed up my back in a parachute jump. Motrin and Jack did not fix it! New daughter, Focus and life changed. Worked for Intellegence Agencies for several years then taught military history for the army for the last 14 years. Now a farmer with black angus cows, horse and chickens. Live in a log cabin (with new wife) in the Missouri forest. Life is good. Kids are grown and moved out to the four winds. My father died last year and was buried in Statesville. As I rode through town, memories came back of growing up there. They were all good but some could never be told to my children or the US Army. I have entertained the idea of coming back to Mitichell University and teaching. Anyone want to by a cattle farm? david,chuber@conus.army.mil
