Doug Thomas
Class of 1984
Coast Guard, 20+ Years
Joined Navy out of High School. Served in the Persian Gulf in 1988 where my ship was struck by an Iranian Mine. That incident inspired a book, "No Higher Honor", which was published in 2006. A documentary for the History Channel just came out about it as well.
Spent 15 great years in the Coast Guard (3 in Alaska, 12 in New Orleans), retiring in 2005.

I served in the Alabama National Guard (82-87). Then transfered to Reg Army in June 1987. Been to too many places to name. Most memorable Unit I served in was A Co. 1/160th Special Operation Aviation Regt. In Ft Campbell, Ky. I served 8 yrs with Special Ops. I retired in Dec 2006 with 20+ yrs.
