Class of 1980
Air Force, 12 Years
I served with the USAF/Air National Guard based in St. Joseph, MO with the 139th Airlift Wing, as well as many other active duty units when deployed. This unit was (and still is) a global tactical cargo/airlift C-130 unit.
However, I did also work on fighters and tanker (refueling) aircraft. My AFSC (job code) was 2A674; aircraft mechanic/fuel system specialist with special "Red X" orders from 11 Sept 1993 to 22 Feb -2005. My last rank was Technical Sergeant (E-6).
I deployed overseas 9 times; two to Germany, 5 to the Middle East, and two to Uzbekistan. I have
served in Operations Joint Guard/Joint Forge/Noble Eagle/Southern Watch/Iraqii Freedom/Enduring Freedom in 33 different countries.
I was away from home and family for a total of
3 &1/2 years. Experienced some hairy stuff and suffered the loss of a good buddy. I came home with PTSD and some physical issues, also.
I'm curently finishing an FFA A&P (aircraft mechanic) program to prepare for working in the civilian aviation sector. This is in addition to preaching and teaching as a minister. (You probably remember that about me in high school.) Tthe Lord is helping me in the long process of healing from the post-traumatic stress.
Now that my wife of 29 years, Melissa, and I have returned to OH, I hope to be able to see everyone at the upcoming reunion(s).
