Annie McConnell Class of 1965
Air Force, 2 Years Assigned to 2nd Combat Support Group, 2nd Bomb Wing, Strategic Air Command, during the Vietnam War. Spent most of time on SAC base at Barksdale AFB.
Col. Joe Dunaway Class of 1981
Army, 20+ Years Colonel Joe D. Dunaway graduated an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from Northeastern Oklahoma State University in May 1985, and was commissioned a 2LT in Aviation. He completed the Aviation Officerâ€™s Basic Course and Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course in May 1986, at Fort Rucker Alabama. Upon completion, he attended the Aviation Maintenance Officerâ€™s Course at Fort Eustis, Virginia followed by his initial assignment to the 4th Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, in Fulda Germany. While assigned to the Squadron, he served as the Squadron Tech Supply Officer, Aeroscout Platoon Leader, Air Assault Cadre Instructor, Command Aviation Platoon Leader and Air Cavalry Troop Commander. Returning to Fort Eustis in 1990, he attended the UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot Course followed by the Aviation Officer Advanced Course at Fort Rucker, Alabama. In May 1991, COL Dunaway arrived at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as was assigned to the newly activating 10th Aviation Group later re-designated the 229th Attack Helicopter Regiment. During this assignment, he served as the Group S4 and AVUM Company Commander for D Company 1-229th Attack Helicopter Battalion. Following this assignment he served in Korea as the Aviation Maintenance Officer in C Company 1-501st Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Brigade. He returned CONUS to attend the Command and General Staff College in 1995 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, followed with assignment to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as the Division Aviation Maintenance Officer, AVIM Company Commander for A Company and Battalion Executive Officer for 8-101st Aviation Regiment. Upon completion of his first tour with the Screaming Eagles he served at DA PERSCOM as the Aviation Branch LTC Assignment Officer and Branch Executive Officer followed with a return to Fort Campbell as the 8-101st Battalion Commander in 2001. After unit deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation ANACONDA and the battalionâ€™s deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom, COL Dunaway returned to Army Human Resources Command as the Aviation Branch Chief. In 2005, COL Dunaway attended the National Defense University, Industrial College of the Armed Forces and once again returned to Army Human Resources Command as the Deputy Director for the Officer Personnel Management Directorate. In July 2007 he will take command of the Corpus Christi Army Depot at Corpus Christi, Texas. COL Dunaway holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and a Masters of Science in National Resource Strategy with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (7 OLC), Air Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation and Army Superior Unit Award. He is Air Assault and Airborne qualified and holds an aircrew rating as a Master Army Aviator.
harvey lee fletcher Class of 1969
Army, 20+ Years I joined the army in 1970 and served till 1978 and got out. Then in 1990 I went back in and served in the national until 2012 when I turned 60 years old and retired. I did a 14 month tour of duty in Iraq and numerous tours on hurricane duty.I retired at the rank of staff sargent.I was awarded the army commendation medal ,army achievement medal Iraq campaign medal,war on terr. expd medal
