About Me | "There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." ~~Nelson Mandela ABOUT ME: I’m a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving woman who appreciates the little things and enjoys taking life one day at a time. I’m a very giving and considerate person and a good friend to those closest to me. I’ve been working for more than 30 years and have always remained very active. I enjoy my career, but I also love my downtime. I had Lap Band surgery on June 6, 2011 and have lost 65 pounds so far. I’m very lucky to have three amazing children and two wonderful grandchildren. All three of my kids graduated from Cal State Bakersfield, my twin sons have completed their Master's Degree and thesis in Computer Science. My daughter has completed both her Masters Program and Thesis and is working in Early Childhood Education. I work part-time as a professional shopper, which allows me to evaluate and rate restaurants. I get paid and/or reimbursed for dining out—which makes trying new restaurants a pleasure! I also have always been passionate about and very interested in the trial process, and I hope to qualify for the grand jury when I retire. FOR FUN: I enjoy going for a nice long drive, visiting a casino every once in a while, reading a good book, relaxing at a campsite, spending time with my family, going on a cruise or just meeting up with friends and having a long chat over coffee or lunch. MY JOB: I am currently unemployed and will be for some time to come. This is due to being ill from rheumatoid arthritis. UPDATE: The doctor has recently given me permission to look for a job, so I'll be back pounding the pavement soon. MY ETHNICITY: Both my father and mother immigrated to the United States from Mexico. They had a large family—there were nine of us! Family is still a very important part of my life. FAVORITE HOT SPOTS: I’m passionate about travel. I love exploring Mexico, and I hope to visit Yosemite again. A Hawaiian or Alaskan cruise would be wonderful! As for restaurants, my favorites are Chinese, sushi and Mexican. You can’t beat a good garlic tuna roll or chile relleno! FAVORITE THINGS: Some of my favorite things in the world are the color blue, watching Dancing with the Stars, or American Idol, listening to Santana and sitting by the fireplace on a rainy day. LAST READ: I love to read, especially if I can get my hands on a good biography. Karen Kingsbury, a Christian novelist, is one of my ...(read more) |
