Laurence Ray Simpson

Navy, 15 Years
After winning the Draft Lottery (#22), Larry chose to serve as a pilot in the US Navy. His first tour of duty was in Italy where the only fighting he did was with the traffic in Naples. He trapped 108 cycles aboard several aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean and North Sea. As a Lieutenant, Simpson returned to Navy Pensacola as an instructor for VT-10 in the T-2 and CT-39 aircraft. Following active duty, he joined a reserve squadron based on Whidbey Island Washington. All of this flying led to a 28 year career flying passengers for United Airlines. Following a Traumatic Brain Injury, Simpson took a four year refuge on the Island Of Kauai . Following a second brain surgery, he shares a home with one of his two sons, Thor, in Seattle. He looks forward to attending the 50th reunion of Roosevelt High School Class of '65, come September.

USCG Electronics retired Chief Warrant in 1984 with 25 years from 1959-84. Two tours Vietnam; 1966 and 1970. Married 1961 and now retired in the Finger Lakes of NY. 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Golf and fishing for fun and gardening for pleasure.
