Y aboard the USS Duluth in San Diego. Made 3 west PAC cruises - the first to sunny south east Asia where I was directly involved in the Vietnam evacuation.

Ronald George Wasielewski
Class of 1964
Marine Corps, 4 Years
Entered Parris Island, S. Carolina October 29, 1965. Electronics tech school in SanDiego for a year, further training in Camp Pendleton, CA. Landed in DaNang in Feb 67, 45 days later trucked up to Khe-Sahn, just 5 miles South of DMZ in Apr-67. 3 months later sent up to Hill 861 2.5 miles from Khe-Sahn. Pic-Nic for four months. The NVA tried to over run our hill 3 different times during TET 68'. Many Marines were KIA'd or wounded. I departed the area in one piece on chopper on March 14, 1968. Stationed in Camp Lejeune, N.C. until Aug1968 and departed for the Mediterranean for show of force with Navy's 6th Fleet for four months going on military maneuvers and also some nice liberty. On that cruise we went to Naples, Barcelona, Kavala Greece. Izmir Turkey(a dirty city), Corsica, The island of Malta.

Our Redford High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Redford High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
