Major Jake Bustoz is A native of Post, Texas. He is married to the former Karen O’Connor. They have two children, Samantha-14, Ryan-12.

In 1992, He Joined The United States Army As A Combat Medic. After Serving With The 18th Medical Command, The 2nd Armored Division And At Tripler Army Medical Center As A Soldier And A Noncommissioned Officer, He Was Awarded An Army Green-to-gold Scholarship. He Completed The Reserve Officer Training Corps Curriculum As A Distinguished Military Graduate At Texas Tech University. He Earned A Bachelor Of Science Degree In Health (magna Cum Laude) And His Commission As A Second Lieutenant In The Medical Service Corps On December 18, 1999. He Is A Graduate From The College Of Naval Command And Staff And Has Earned A Master’s Degree In National Security And Strategic Studies From The Naval War College. He Is Currently Completing A Master’s Of Health Sciences In Clinical Leadership At The Duke University School Of Medicine.

Prior To Being Assigned As A Medical Fellow with the Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs Of Staff, Major Bustoz Served In A Variety Of Key Assignments Including Special Assistant to The Army Surgeon General/ Commanding General, U.S. Army Medical Command In Washington, D.C.; Chief Of Medical Plans And Operations, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command, Kabul Afghanistan; Current Operations (G-33) Officer, Office Of The Surgeon General, Falls Church, Virginia; Operations Officer/ Medical Advisor With The 9th Iraqi Army At Taji And Later With The 8th Iraqi Army In The Wasit Province Of Iraq; Executive Officer, USADTRD, Walter Reed Army Institute Of Research, Naval Station, Great Lakes, Illinois; Commanding Officer, E Company, 232d Medical Battalion At Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Secretary Of The General Staff, Southeast Regional Medical Command And Office Of The Chief, Medical Corps At Fort Gordon, Georgia; Aide-de-camp, Dwight D.
