SFC CLARENCE L. DAVIS

Sergeant First Class Clarence L. Davis enlisted in the U. S. Army in August 1984 under the Delayed Entry Program. After graduating from Plaquemine High School in Plaquemine, Louisiana he attended recruit training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma –Home of the Field Artillery in October 1984. After completion of recruit training in December 1984, Private Davis was assigned to 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery, and FEPA-KOREA.

Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he earned the Field Artilleryman Military Occupational Specialty. In 1985 Private Davis received orders to FEPA-KOREA , South Korea from 1985 – 1986 where receive his training on the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), at 4P3, and vary field training exercises( FTX) to include “Team Spirit 1985” where he receive an Army Achievement Medal. (AAM). SFC Davis was promote to Specialist (E4) with the 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery. After returning from Korea, Specialist Davis was assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma to the 2nd Battalion 14th Field Artillery as a gunnery of the M109A1 Self-propelled medium howitzers. Specialist Davis was promote to Sergeant (E5), where he participated in numerous combined arm exercises and field training exercises until January 1988.

In January 1988, Sergeant Davis received orders to 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (2ACR), EURA-GERMANY. In 1988 as a leader of soldiers, he conducted gunnery training at Grafenwoehr, maneuvers training at the Combat Maneuver Training Center at Hohenfels and participated in numerous REFORGER (Return of Forces to Germany) exercises. Sergeant Davis also rehearsed portion of the NATO war plan on the German countryside. During this time in Germany, the 2d ACR saw the pendulum swing both ways for the Army in Europe, from the neglect of the post-Vietnam era to the vast improvements in equipment and facilities in the eighties. Our mission was to train for war and conduct border surveillance on the Czech Republic (Czechia) border. As a border guard Sergeant Davis held various positions such as Patrol NCO, Relay NCO, Control Desk NCO, and Training NCO.
In August 1990, deployed to Southwest Asia where he participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (2ACR), EURA-GERMANY as an M109A1 Self-propelled medium howitzers Chief of Section. In April 1992 he was reassigned to, Ft. Polk, Louisiana. While in Ft. Polk, Louisiana he participated in four (4) National Training Center field training exercises before his unit moved to Fort Hood, Texas in 1993. From 1993 to 1996 Sergeant Davis participated in numerous field training exercises, 3 NTC rotations, and 3 gun section competition. Sergeant Davis gun section was name Top Gun one out of the 3 years.
In May of 1996, he join the Indiana National Guard as a Combat Engineer (21B). While in the Indiana National Guard, he serve in many position such as Squad Leader, Section Leader, Retention NCO, Pre Basic NCO, HRNCO, Site Security Manager, and the State Contractor Verification System –Trusted Agents Manager (TASM), State of Indiana DEERS/RAPIDS – Subject Matters Expert (SME).

Sergeant First Class Davis holds a BA/Human Resources HRM Oakland City University 2006, MS/Master of Science MGT Oakland City University 2007, and a PHD in Education, Liberty University 2011.
