Marine Corps, 20+ Years Major LaRocca is a native of Peabody, Massachusetts and a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School, Command and Staff College, the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science in Information Technology Systems. Private First Class LaRocca enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1989, earning a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal as platoon honor graduate from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. During his initial tour with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadrons 32 and 14, Lance Corporal LaRocca served as an avionics technician for the AV-8B Harrier, deployed with the 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade to Norway for Teamwork ’92, and served as a Primary Marksmanship Instructor for Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, NC. He earned a meritorious promotion to Corporal, was selected as the Corporals Course Honor Graduate, and was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program in July 1994. Sergeant LaRocca attended the University of Memphis, and was commissioned in August 1996. After attending The Basic School in Quantico, VA, where he earned honors as the top aggregate rifle and pistol shooter, 2ndLt LaRocca attended Financial Management Officers Course at Camp Johnson in 1997. He was subsequently assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Disbursing Office and deployed as the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit Disbursing Officer in 1998, where he participated in Operation Joint Forge in the Adriatic Sea and in pre-Kosovo operations. In June 2000, Captain LaRocca received orders to III MEF, Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the Exercise Budget Officer and deployed as the Commander of Troops aboard the USS Blue Ridge during Exercise Ulchi Focus Lens 2001. In 2002 he served a year as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Budget Officer, followed by a three-year tour as the Business Performance Officer-in-Charge of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, where he earned a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) designation from the American Society of Military Comptrollers. In June 2006, Major LaRocca received orders to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA and subsequently earned his Master of Science in Information Technology Management. During his payback tour from 2008-2011, he served as the Director of Financial Management for the Fleet Readiness Center East, MCAS Cherry Point, NC, where he completed Defense Acquisition University’s highest level of training in Business, Cost Estimating and Financial Management, and earned his designation as an Acquisition specialist (CDFM-A) and Military Occupational Specialty as a Defense Acquisition Professional. Major LaRocca received orders to Camp Lejeune, NC to serve as the 2d Marine Logistics Group Comptroller from 2011 to 2013. During that tour he also graduated from the Defense Resource Management Institute in Monterey, CA and deployed to Regional Support Command-North in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan to serve as the J-8 Resource Management Officer-in-Charge from 2012-2013. Major LaRocca’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three gold stars in lieu of fourth award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (bronze star in lieu of second award), Silver and Bronze individual rifle medals, and two Lloyd Trophies and one Shively Trophy earned at the Far East Division Rifle and Pistol Team Matches. Major LaRocca is married to the former Michelle Bridges of New Albany, Mississippi. They have three children, William (Jay), Elizabeth, and Jordyn.

Army, 17 Years After Basic, AIT and Jump School, I served in Fort Lewis, Washington with the 2/75th Ranger Battalion as a Medic (91B). I re-enlisted after 3 years and switched my MOS to Pharmacy Specialist (91Q). I served in San Antonio, Garstedt, West Germany, Augsburg, West Germany, and Fort Meade, Maryland. I served with the 13th Evacuation Hospital in Operation Desert Storm. I took the early retirement option and retired as a SSG in 1995 after 17 years on active duty.
