The Oakland High School Boys Basketball program prides itself on developing upstanding student athletes and providing them with options and opportunities most inner-city students usually do not have.
Our constant emphasis on academics, mandatory “study hall” sessions before and during the season, combined with the hard work and dedication of our student athletes has produced a Team GPA of over 3.0 (a B average) for the past 5 years. In the 2007-2008 season, our Varsity GPA was over 3.5, with four graduates currently attending 4-year universities.
To reward and encourage their efforts, we try to provide as many options as possible for our young men; college options, academic and athletic scholarship opportunities, competitive basketball, and the opportunity to travel and play in front of coaches/scouts outside of the Bay Area.
For the upcoming 2008-2009 season, we plan to continue taking our program to even higher levels. Unfortunately, public school budget constraints make it more and more difficult to provide these opportunities. Major costs for this season include:
Uniforms (Home and Road Games) $2,400
Shoes and Equipment $3,000
Reno High Wild West Shootout Tournament
Tournament Fee $400
Two Minivans (5 day rental) $600
Food, Gasoline, other expenses $350
Lodging (4 nights) $1000
Total Reno High Tournament $2,350

WE NEED YOUR HELP ALUMNIS!
Hey Oakland High alumnis, my name is Shayna Truong & I am currently the Sophomore Class President of C/O 2011. & I would kindly like to ask those to help our class by donating to the C/O 2011. I love Oakland High & student government with a passion. And as most of you guys remember, sophomore year is one of the most difficult years with the AP classes along with the lack of spirited participants. So please, I would kindly appreciate the smallest penny to be donated for our class. It'll help bring up the Wildcat spirits and those of you would greatly be mentioned for helping make our proms the night of our lives.
