1963 MHS 50TH REUNION TENTATIVE SCHEDULE September 13-15, 2013 March 1, 2013 Dear Classmates: The Reunion Committee is excited to learn that so many of you are making plans to attend our 50th Reunion. We are pleased to share with you the activities that have been confirmed. We understand that some classmates have not attended a reunion weekend in the past. The committee is anxious to make this 50th reunion a memorable event. We are soliciting input and suggestions from you for additional planned activities. As we get closer, we will also provide suggestions for QC events, and landmarks for you to consider on your own or by joining with old friends. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2013 * Casual Mixer at Parkside Grill & Lounge – 2307 – 5 Avenue , Moline starting at 6:30 p.m.. Indoor and outdoor space is available to us. and our invited family members and friends. * Complete menu items available for purchase. Cash bar. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2013 * Golf Tournament – details to come. * Suggestions for additional planned daytime activities welcome. * Evening at the historic Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club on Arsenal Island. Dinner, (food stations to encourage mingling), program and dancing. * A photographer will be on hand to take our class photo and informal and requested group shots. * Dinner cost estimated at $30 per person – cash bar SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2013 * Catered Breakfast at Pam Barron Wendt’s Home – 3400 – 14 Street, Moline . * Estimated Cost: $10 per person. DO--IT--YOURSELF REUNION BOOK * Each classmate will have an 8-1/2”x 11” page to do with as they choose. We will email/mail instructions, a sample, and a deadline date. Tell us about yourself and your family via pictures and words. All submissions will be copied and put into a booklet. * Estimated cost is $15 per booklet. ACCOMMODATIONS We have secured blocks of rooms at two downtown Moline Hotels. Mention “Moline High School class of ‘63” for reduced rates. The rooms will be held until August 13, 2013. * Radisson on John Deere Commons, Moline 309-764-1000 * Stoney Creek Inn on John Deere Commons, Moline 309-743-0101 YOUR INPUT… The Reunion Committee would like your input and suggestions for additional planned activities. Some suggestions we have received;might include: * Guided walking tour of downtown Moline. * Guided tour of historic Wharton Field House ( book on the history of the Field House may be available). * Ride on the Mississippi River via the Channel Cat, water taxi * Others??? The Reunion Committee also plans to provide a listing of fun local sites and activities for returning classmates. Hello Moline High School Class of '63,
As summer is fast approaching, Marty Smutz Burland sent me a note about how excited she is about coming to our 50th reunion on September 13-15.
And, she also noted that I should remind classmates who are coming to start booking their airline flights since fares always climb as it gets closer to the that September date. You should also check local hotels such as the Radisson for rooms.
I believe the Reunion Committee will be sending out mailings also, but I wanted to get the word out to those with email addresses and those who use
