Darriet Gordon Class of 1985
Navy, 5 Years BMSN Darriet Gordon served proudly in the Navy on two Mederterrain cruises and one Indian Ocean cruise from 1985 til 1990 where he became shellback when crossing the equator now Darriet is back in Valdosta Ga serving the city as a Valdosta City Firefighter for 10 years from a lateral position in public works in 6years counting up to 20 years in recognition to serving un the millitary the city of Valdosta will add up to 4yrs on his retirement after 20 yrs

Army, 20+ Years Donald has serve in the US Army since completeing high school (18) for the past 20 yrs him and his family have been in the state of El Pasco ,TX for the pass 3 yrs and in August will be off for Germany for another 3yrs. and then he has serve 25yrs and has re-enlist for 3 more yrs upon his return to the states he will then retire hats off to my brother Sgt. Marine Corps, 20+ Years MASTER SERGEANT ERIC ALEXANDER RUSSELL (USMC RETIRED) Master Sergeant Russell (Retired) is a native of Miami, Florida. He entered the Marine Corps Reserve on 7 August 1979. Upon completion of Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class (PFC) and transferred to Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp LeJejune, North Carolina and Headquarters and Group Maintenance Squadron 27, Marine Wing Support Group 27, 2nd Marine Air Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, North Carolina to attended the Motor Transportation Basis Operatorâ€™s Course where he attained the Primary Military Occupational Specialty 3531, Basic Heavy Motor Vehicle Operator. On 21 December 1979, PFC Russell was released from active duty and reported to Anti-Tank Co, 8th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Miami, Florida where he served as a Heavy Motor Vehicle Operator. On 4 March 1980, PFC Russell returned to active duty with Orders to Wing Transportation Squadron 37, 3rd Marine Air Wing, Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, Santa Ana, California where he served as Heavy Vehicle Operator. On 18 August 1980, Lance Corporal (LCpl) Russell reported to Truck Company, 9th Motor Transport Battalion, where he served as Heavy Motor Vehicle Operator, a Training Noncommissioned Officer and the Truck Company Commanding Officer Driver - where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal, and he was reassigned to serve as a Section Leader in the 9th Motor Transport Battalion Motor Pool. 21 September 1981, Corporal (Cpl) Russell reported to Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island to serve as a Heavy Vehicle Operator. On 15 July 1982, Cpl Russell reenlisted and received Orders to Marine Barracks Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida to serve as a Light Vehicle Operator and American Automobile Association (AAA) Safe Driving Instructor. In December 1984, Sergeant (Sgt) Russell received Orders and reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, California to serve as a Tractor Trailer Operator. On 10 January 1987, Sgt Russell reported to 9th Motor Transport Battalion to serve as Section Leader, Marine Integrated Maintenance Management System Clerk, (MIMMS) and the Battalion MIMMS Chief. In April 1988, Sgt Russell reported to 7th Motor Transport Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, California, to serve in the S-3 as a SACO and S-3 NCO, and MIMMS Clerk. Sgt Russell reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California Class 2-90. Upon completion, he was assigned to Company D, First Recruit Training Battalion where served as a Drill Instructor. Then assigned to Support Battalion where he served as an Academic Instructional Unit Instructor, and then to Alpha Company to serve as a Drill Instructor. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant (SSgt) on 1 February 1990. In February 1992, SSgt Russell reported to Base Motors, Marine Corps Base, Okinawa Japan. Here SSgt Russell serviced as a Licensing Staff Noncommissioned Officer, Chief Dispatcher, Assistant Fiscal Chief, Fiscal Chief, Road Master, and Operations Chief. During March 1995, SSgt Russell became the founder of the First International Young Marines Program and was flown back to receive the First International Charter from the former Commandant of the Marine Corps â€“ General Alfred M. Gray. On 1 October 1995, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt). On 31 July 1996, GySgt Russell received Orders to the University of Mississippi, to be the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (AMOI). While serving as the AMOI, GySgt Russell served two summers as a Sergeant Instructor and Platoon Sergeant at Officer Candidates School. On 25 August 1998, GySgt Russell reported to Headquarters and Service Company III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), Okinawa Japan, to serve as the Motor Transport Chief, Company Gunnery Sergeant, Hazardous Material Coordinator, and the Hazardous Material SNCO. On 1 November 1999 was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant (MSgt). In January 2000, MSgt Russell reported to the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy Camp Butler, Okinawa Japan. Here he served as a Faculty Advisor, Academics Chief, Operations Chief, and Deputy Director. In June 2001, MSgt Russell reported to Headquarters and Service Company, Combat Assault Battalion, to serve as the Motor Transport Chief. In March 2004, MSgt Russell became the Camp Services Adjutant from Camp Schwab, Okinawa Japan. In January 2005, MSgt Russell reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island to service as the Operations Chief for the Installation and Logistic Division and was transferred to the United States Marine Corps Fleet Reserve on 1 June 2006. Personal Decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Retired MSgt Russell is married to the former Gloria Jean Shotwell. They have three sons and one dog: Eric II serving in the United States Army as a Drill Sergeant with the rank of Staff Sergeant, Derrick â€“ also serving in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant, Travis who is senior - currently attending Clark Atlanta University, and their family dog Precious â€“ that has been with the family since 1993.
