Injured after four years of Marine Corps officer training, but then was accepted into various Army National Guard bands around the country. He then joined the Army Reserve and retired as a First Sergeant in a Combat Engineer company with 36 years total service.

I was commissioned as US Army Quartermaster Officer in 1983 and attended my QMOBC at Ft. Lee, VA. My First duty station was with 1st Armored Division, A Company, 501st Supply & Transportation Battalion, Furth, Germany. I moved to to Bamberg when we organized the 3rd Forward Support Battalion. I served along the Inter-German and Czechoslavakian borders. I was tasked to serve a short tour with the SOCEUR staff in Italy in 1986, before returning to Ft. Lee. I returned to Germany as an Army Reserve Officer serving with USACIL in Frankfort, 21st TAACOM in Kaiserslautern, and 80th Area Support Group in Chievres, Belgium.
