Bill Farrar entered the Air Force after graduating from KU in 1955, and an AFROTC graduate. He entered pilot school at Hondo Texas, and graduated from Vance AFB, OK, in Dec. 1956. His first assignment was with a squadron flying C-124 Globemasters, whose primary mission was aiflifting nuclear weapons. He did this four years, and left active duty in 1961. He then became a member of the Air Force Reserve, as a captain, at Richards-Gebaur AFB, MO. Here he was an aircraft commander for Globemasters, and flew these for eight years. This mission took him to many foreign destinations, including Viet-Nam, carrying a profound variety of cargo. By 1972,and now a major, his unit converted to C-130 Hercules prop-jets, and the tactaical airlift mission. This continued for eight years, with missions to many areas, including Panama. He became a flight commander, and was promoted to LtColonel. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his duties. He retired from his duties in 1980, and has traveled to many of the same destinations in this status. As of 2010, he has visited 80 countries.

Twentytwo years total service active and reserves. LtCol (Ret) rated command pilot. Airlifter:, C-124 Globemasters and C-130 Hercules. Dozens of missions flown to Far East,Europe, Central and South America, Alaska, carrying a profound variety of cargo, including nuclear weapons.
