You are all cordially invited to the Kirkwood High School Class of 1977 - 40th Reunion Picnic at Kirkwood Park on Saturday, July 29th. We have the Scout Shelter Pavilion reserved for the whole day, starting at 11:00am. For those of you who made the Class of 1977 – 20th Reunion Picnic, it’s at the same exact place.
The Scout Shelter Pavilion is down below the bathrooms next to the water tower on the west end of the park. You can’t miss it. And all kids, grandkids, and families are welcome to attend, so bring the young-ins. Bring the dogs.
The significant particulars on this special event are as follows:
• Date: Saturday, July 29th, 2017, Time: 11:00 am – park closing (dusk).
• Location: Kirkwood Park Scout Shelter Pavilion (below the water tower).
• Alcohol Permit Issued: Yes. So byob. NO BOTTLES ALLOWED, so bring canned beer/soda/bottled water/whatever, and we can always bring a keg of beer if you want me to get one (or maybe two).
• For anybody drinking wine, Kirkwood said to pour the wine into plastic cups and keep the wine bottles in a cooler out of sight of the park rangers.
• DON’T MESS WITH THE PARK RANGERS! They will stop by from time to time to monitor any rowdiness. (We’re older than most of them!)
• I will bring my bar-b-que grill in case anybody wants to throw some shrimp on the barby. Please feel free to do so, or maybe a St. Louis-style Italian sandwich might mysteriously show up, who knows. Stay tuned on that.
• Do you have a favorite dish? Or did you win a Martha Stewart award for your Moose pie? Bring some to share! We will have a Pot Luck, including Burgers, Hot Dogs and a St. Louis Pork Steak or two. Maybe we can get a famous Celebrity Chef like Sean Brady or Greg Ziegenfuss to cater it.
• Speaking of Pot Luck, this is NOT Colorado: Leave the Wacky Tabaccy at home! Do bring your favorite pictures, memories and stories.
• A Special Bonus Event is brewing for Friday, July 28th, perhaps including a tour of KHS so we can relive our glory days! More details to follow.
Yes, a rumor on the street has it that one of our 1977 classmates is lurking, and he/she owns a local restaurant/watering hole. More details on that, but it will be also include a happy hour event on Friday evening, July 28th the night before the picnic. How cool is that? Correct answer: VERY COOL! I’ve got three of my best men working on it (cue the monkeys jumping on the hood of the television commercial guy’s car). I’ll keep everybody posted. But let’s start booking our flights and hotel reservations now to make it to this Kirkwood High School 40th Reunion Picnic.
